Office of Interdisciplinary Studies
The Office of Interdisciplinary Studies falls under the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Social and Applied Sciences. It is responsible for the coordination of two unique interdisciplinary programs: the Doctor of Social Sciences and the MA in Interdisciplinary Studies.
Interdisciplinary Studies offer students the opportunity to design a program of study focused on a specific research topic or professional area of interest that would best be studied from the perspectives of more than one academic discipline.
Typically, most graduate interdisciplinary degrees draw from traditional, single disciplines such as sociology or psychology. This degree draws from broader interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary programs such as peace and conflict management, communication and culture, leadership, and environment and sustainability. This allows for an even greater diversity of scholarly perspectives. In addition, the program focuses on applied research and is specifically designed to advance the working professional's career goals.
